Tell us about New Mountain Design.
Founded in the Colorado mountains, we’ve spent years developing a reputation for delivering meticulously detailed, one-of-a-kind cabinetry solutions for discerning clients and their design teams. The work we do is grounded in craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and a collaborative process. Our work spans residential and commercial spaces, and we’re proud to partner with leading architects, designers, and builders to bring elevated environments to life. -
What sets you apart in the marketplace? That is, what’s special or distinctive about what you do and how you do it?
What makes us unique is our focus on true customization as nothing we do is off the shelf. We aim to design cabinetry and interiors that are as personal and layered as the clients we serve and the luxury homes they build. Our approach blends precision with artistry: combining technical problem-solving with creative exploration. We strive to create pieces that don’t feel cold or mass-produced, but instead are warm, expressive, and enduring. Our understanding of both the creative and technical sides of the work allow us to execute ambitious designs with clarity and confidence.

What drives your company culture? Tell us about company values.
At our core, we value authenticity, craftsmanship, and collaboration. We believe in slowing down to get things right, obsessing over the details, and building long-term partnerships with those who share our commitment to quality and creativity. Each project is treated as an opportunity to create something truly special—never replicated, always tailored.

How long have you worked with Duet Build?
We’ve been collaborating with Duet Build for two years now and consider them a key creative partner. -
What is your experience like working with Duet?
Working with Duet feels like a natural alignment. Devon’s fine art background and Caleb’s architecture background both resonate with our own right-brained approach—cabinetry and interiors are, after all, both a technical and artistic endeavor. We understand Duet’s intent, speak the same creative language, and take real pleasure in translating the builder’s vision into tangible, built work. It’s a challenge in the best sense of the word: thoughtful, nuanced, and always design-forward. -
What do you want prospective clients to know about your work?
We don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach. Every project is a chance to design something entirely unique and deeply personal. We listen carefully, we collaborate closely, and we bring both artistry and technical rigor to every phase. If you’re looking for cabinetry and interior details that go beyond the ordinary—pieces that feel intentional, elevated, and enduring—New Mountain Design is a trusted partner.

Give us an example of a recent project on a custom home that showcases your approach.
A great example of our process and design philosophy can be seen in a recent lake-front home project, where we designed and fabricated a one-of-a-kind bar. The cabinet doors and drawer fronts were crafted from vintage wooden water skis. We also fabricated a wood countertop, to mimic a teak and holly boat deck, echoing a classic nautical theme. We punctuated the design with a polished bronze sink and matching bell, reminiscent of boat hardware, which will be rung to announce happy hour and sundowner time on the lake. This project perfectly reflects our mission to create timeless pieces that are not only functional but deeply personal, artful, and infused with life and story.
